Getting around Playa del Carmen by taxi is easy, safe, and convenient. Taxis are widely available throughout the city and are a great option for short trips, especially in the heat or at night.
Typical Prices
Taxi fares in Playa del Carmen are generally affordable, especially for short distances:

Longer rides within the city: 150–250 MXN
For most trips within town, you can expect to pay somewhere between 50 and 150 pesos.
For longer distances:

Important: Taxis do not usually use meters, so always agree on the price before getting in.
How to Get a Taxi
On the street:
Walking around, you can easily stop a taxi by simply raising your arm when you see one. Taxis are everywhere, especially in downtown areas.
From a taxi stand:
You’ll find taxi stands at key locations like the ADO bus station, 5th Avenue & Constituyentes, and near hotels. These are very convenient, but fares may be slightly higher (around 5 pesos extra).
